Ok, Guam was about 5 hundred times cooler than my wildest dreams. When you think guam, just think one notch poorer than Hawaii and about 2 notches more beautiful. Guam is incredible. I wish I had more time to talk about everything we did but I gotta be fast and keep it quick.
SO i'll just talk about the highlights even though thurs-Sun was a blur of amazingness. On saturday we- Me, Georgia, Amy, Lizzie, and Kent rented a car and took off for a beach we had planned. But along the way we passed gorgeous beach after gorgeous beach and then saw something so cool we all yelled "PULL OVER" and in one instant we were all in agreement and running out of the car in our bathing suits. We came across this little salt water pool where it was surrounded by OLD stones that had been laid who knows how long ago. the ocean waves constantly poured into it and there were fish swimming around and a reef nearby to explore. But what caught our attention was that A: it was super secluded and hardly anyone was there and B: only locals were swimming there and they were jumping off a 10 foot platform into the "pool". We had to do it too. so we did. And I need to move on but let it be known that that was one of the coolest places to ever find on mistake.
Then we found another secluded lesser known beach with electric blue water and varying colors of teal. Only locals were there again so we knew we found a good place. Brad, A member of the LDS charities group met up with us, found a coconut, busted it open after working with it and then we all sipped coconut milk and ate the meat. Pretty good. I still have some stuck in my teeth. Just kidding i got it out.
We also found one of the most incredible places i've ever been. Its called "Spanish Steps". Its a cove that you have to hike down to. To get there you use ropes because the rocks are so steep. It leads you into a palm tree, fern, butterfly, hermit crab, leafy, humid jungle and you walk for about 15 mins and BOOM it opens up into a cove where the water comes right up to the jungle and you go in and snorkel. We found a bright blue starfish! i can't even describe the feeling of awe you get when you first get site of the stunning cliffs and the eroded rocks that contrast with the crystal clear and teal water. And to share it with fun people just upped the fun. Brad busted open another coconut for the occasion and we ate it. oh, we went in the water in our clothes because you couldn't just look at that sight and then go "cool" and walk away. NO. it must be experienced by all senses. I had to go in. anyway, Guam is pretty under-rated. Loved little guam.
Oh by the way, We went to church today with this awesome little welcoming branch. I sat down in a pew and saw a woman who looked so familiar. Then she saw me and we realized we know eachother. It was shelly, my old YW leader when i was 12 and she babysat me when I was 1. I didn't even know she was IN guam. what the heck!? what a coincidence!
Oh there's so much more to say but i'll keep it at that. we have about 800 people on the ship now and we're on our way to Vietnam tomorrow. We picked up some aussies so i'm pretty excited to go talk to them...
thats it for now!
